A Thankful Heart – Week 2

Hey everybody! If you saw my post last Sunday, than you know what this series is all about. If not, allow me to get you all caught up! For the month of November, I will be joining the Thankful Heart link up with Aleigh Moore’s blog ‘For the Joy of Life.’ The goal of this series is to take a step back from our chaotic lives and focus on our blessings. Let’s choose to be grateful. If you missed last weeks post– you can read it here

Week Two : My Sweet Husband

Almost 5 years ago, I stumbled upon a grade-school “boyfriend” in the ‘who you may know’ portion of Facebook. I hadn’t seen him or spoken with him in years and in that moment, I made a bold decision to send him a friend request. I didn’t think anything of it as I headed into work that day until my phone chimed. This guy from my past had messaged me and I kid you not when I say the rest is history.

My husband, Austin, proposed to me a year later and our life has been nothing short of an adventure. I remember being so unsure of him after our first date. He was kind, unbelievably handsome and gracious beyond belief. I thought he was way too good to be true.

But that’s just Austin.

He has a way of making me smile on my hardest days as he turns my trials into little victories. He grounds me with grace when I let my worries take hold of me and his faith in God’s plan for our family is steadfast. I fell for him hard and fast all those years ago, but nothing prepared my heart for how that love would grow when he became a father.  The moment I saw his eyes meet our daughters, I was overcome with emotion. I’ve had the privilege of watching their relationship transform in this last year and I am so proud of that man I love so dearly. He works endlessly to provide for our family and still has the energy for a laundry basket ride around the kitchen and the early morning tea party. He is our rock, our leader and the best man I know. I don’t tell him enough how thankful I am for his partnership in this life and I am eternally grateful for his love. For better or worse. For the rest of our lives.

  2. Colleen says:

As your mother in law, I can’t tell you how this blesses my heart. We try ed to raise Austin with all the qualities we thought he would need to be. Godly husband and father, but sometimes in the trenches of parenthood, you aren’t sure if it sinks in. We tried to model parenting and marriage in the household. I’m so proud of the man he has become and so happy he found the best wife and mommy. God has blessed you richly. We are equally proud of you Katie and are excited to watch what God has in store for you. Love you
